CMN were integral in helping us launch our first Open House mentoring programme for Soho Impact in London.

Through mentor training for Soho House members and CMN’s connections to young creatives in the city, we were able to forge lasting partnerships that we hope will continue to grow networks and make the creative industries more representative of class, gender and ethnicity.

96%

of mentors feel more confident to nurture diverse talent and create an inclusive culture.

89%

of mentors agree that CMN helped them build more confidence in their own skills and knowledge.

92%

of mentors feel more confident.

The training sessions have given us fresh ideas. The coaching vs mentoring workshop was particularly useful as many of us had thought about solely using our experience to help. It did encourage me to help my mentee find her own answers rather than feeling like I needed to have all of the solutions.

CONSULTATION

We met with the Soho House team to build a plan to develop links with the communities local to the houses. The team were keen to build a programme that was an opportunity for members to develop and network too.

TIMELINE

Over a 16 week programme, mentors developed coaching specific skills. We host regular networking events at the Houses to make sure young people feel confident using their membership and building their networks outside of sessions with their mentors.

The programme closes with a showcasing event, where we invite young people to tell us what’s happened so far.

THE PROGRAMME

Soho Impact: Open House Mentoring is a 16 week programme of mentoring and mentor training, delivered in partnership with Creative Mentor Network.

18-27’s are paired with a mentor from the house community, receive free house membership and opportunities to network. Mentors receive a programme of training.

It was lovely being on the journey with someone who has just entered the workforce and seeing the obstacles through her eyes. I felt a sense of pride when my mentee conquered some issues at work ie around presenting, engaging with colleagues and then when she found momentum around larger personal goals.
